Innovation as a Profession
SVII intends to facilitate a global community passionately driven to cross-fertilize, actualize, and champion both tangible and theoretical innovation. This will be accomplished with an innovation architecture comprised of an ideation capture mechanism, tools to move the ideas forward, and a culture to support these.
Innovation advocates require emotional support
It is difficult for any individual to take on an entire system and yet that is what all innovators must do on a regular basis. The world is changed by those who do not accept the status quo and strongly believe there is a better way. This can place these individuals directly in opposition to established power structures whose support is necessary to effect change. SVII intends to provide a physical and virtual space where it is acceptable and desirable to innovate.
Risk Prudence and Adversity Factors
Innovators share two sometimes competing characteristics. They are good at managing the tradeoffs between taking chances and following their passion. They also are possessed of a high adversity quotient, meaning they have thick enough skins to tolerate the inevitable rejection and failure that accompanies breakthrough behavior. This combination can make them outspoken and seemingly uncooperative, two features that do not always endear them to others.
If one is to be deviant, then one needs to tolerate deviance - especially if it comes in the same form as ones own. These are people who have a natural affinity for each other and when several innovators combine forces any problem can be solved.
