SVII helps all sizes enterprises manage innovation better

The Silicon Valley Innovation Institute supports Innovation Advocates in order to turn Vision into Value, by providing services, solutions, education, conferences, community and tools. We contribute to the conscious creation of sustainable Innovation Culture.

The basic premise is in order to survive all must innovate

It is clear that to be superior one must also be different. You can not be better by being the same. Any organization or person that strives to eliminate change will succumb to others more willing to take prudent risks. As it is clear that we must innovate or die the question becomes how do we manage the risk that accompanies any new activity. The ability to tolerate mistakes through conscious risk prudence is tied to expectation management. Everyone dislikes negative surprises but is more able to cope when warned and when prepared with backup plans.

Sustaining innovation requires a conscious culture

Culture is based upon shared identity, which generates shared values and beliefs which are then manifest as shared behaviors and actions. None of these can occur without shared communication. In a networked age, holding your cards close to your chest is less powerful than having more nodes in your network. A cabal as a sub-culture is a way that small groups outperform large groups every day. These small groups are usually part of larger group but in all cases if innovation is not valued and supported it will be inhibited.

Conscious culture is not an accident

Thinker

When a founder is present it is possible for culture to be unconscious. Everyone simply follows the founder. The dynamic nature of the marketplace as well as the life cycles of organizations frequently deprive groups of their original calibrating, motivating and participating founder. Without some form of consciously articulated model of behavior chaos can result.
